It's been awhile...

Obviously, I've started school again, hence the lack of posts. Right now I'm taking color theory, composition, and drawing II. I actually feel much less busy than last quarter, but of course, I still have other things to do than blog, and I also don't want to post a bunch of junk! At the moment I'm waiting for my roommate to wake up so I can turn on the lights to work on a still life.

I've been wanting to show you the clothes I got for Christmas, but I'm just now getting to that. I just wore the first top yesterday, and I'm currently wearing that sweater, actually.

My roommate got me the last top and the crochet vest. Speaking of crochet, I officially switched my major to fibers, which means I'll be focusing on fabric rather than designing clothes. Fibers majors also make some clothes like sweaters or knit/crochet. I'm hoping to take my intro class spring quarter.

Iron and Wine is coming to my school theater in April! I bought his new album Kiss Each Other Clean and just listened to it all yesterday.

Lastly, if you'd like to see posts more often, I started using my tumblr a bit more. I also have to do a blog for color theory, which you can find here. It's not very exciting, but it gives you a taste of what I'm doing here at school right now.

Waiting For The End

So, in Savannah, Georgia, fall doesn't exist.  It's still like 95 F every day, plus humidity.  Whenever I visit home it's going to seem quite chilly.  I just wish I could wear some fall clothes!
I have been enjoying SCAD so much, and I had such an amazing weekend.  Friday, Danielle and I (my roommate) found this really neat little vintage/consignment shop with all kinds of stuff and floral prints everywhere.  It was an absolute dream, I'm bringing my camera next time!  They had vintage Coach  bags for under $40.
Saturday I walked around the city with my friend Brett, and we found lots of neat stores and whatnot.  That night I joined the Super Smash Bros league at SCAD, which is actually taken pretty seriously here.  They had a whole tournament and rules set and everything.  I met some girls there, and got to play the game in their dorm for awhile.  Some random guys were having a dance party in their room a little later, complete with a DJ booth, so that was pretty fun, too.  College life is so random!
Sunday, I went to church in the morning, and Savannah is SO quiet at 9 am on a Sunday, that's for sure.  I don't think I saw a single other person on the street besides the guy I was walking with.  I really enjoyed it though.  They served us free food, of course.  They know how to get college students.  I never really understood the importance of free food until college!

On a really unrelated note, Brett gave me probably 20 new CD's to listen to, which is going to take me forever, because he had specific listening instructions for a lot of them, haha.  I got the new Linkin Park album on my own, which I LOVE.  Nobody else seems to like it but me, but I guess I just accepted that it's totally different from their other stuff.  Here's one of my favorite songs, which is actually a little reggae inspired:
You'll probably be hearing more from this album, because I just love it so much!

Mine

I was looking for Taylor Swift's new song "Mine" on youtube to share with you all, but instead I came across this cover of it.  All I can say is, wow.  I know it's cheesy pop, but it makes me want two things: new good music, and a boyfriend to sing this to me, haha.

Warped Tour 2010!

Warped Tour was amazing yet again this year, and just as crazy as before.  You may recall last year's post about warped tour.  Pretty much all the same rules still apply.  I got to see lots of crazy idiots, see lots of amazing bands, and get REALLY sunburned.  Last year it was cloudy, so it wasn't nearly as hot and I didn't get as burned as I did this year.  I almost got heat stroke once, but I ended up being okay.  If you go to an outdoor concert festival type thing, drink TONS water.

Here's the schedule.  We underlined/starred bands we wanted to see.  We ended up not seeing some of these, and seeing others instead though.
First band we saw was In Fear and Faith.  I didn't like them at all.  Joey did, though.
This band was called Set Your Goals, and they were okay.
This is The Summer Set, one of the bands I really wanted to see.  They were good, but the singer kind of seemed like a jerk.
The girl drummer was awesome!
Here are just some random people.  Look at that guy's hair!
This was Joey's favorite band, Emarosa.  I liked them, but I had to leave early to be able to see The Rocket Summer.
Of course, he was really really awesome. He made up a song for us right on the spot!  At the end he started singing about Jesus, and he was getting booed by the Alesana crowd.  I felt so bad for him.  Everyone cusses on stage at warped tour, and Bryce hates it, so he called us "motherlovers" instead. :)
After he played I ran to the tent he was at so I could meet him!  He was super nice.
He signed my belt, too!
Joey met the guy from Emarosa, too.
After that I got mild heatstroke and had to sit down for awhile (and I missed Sum 41), but then I recovered and got to see We The Kings.  This was the best picture I took all day in my opinion.
Last we saw Eyes Set to Kill, which I liked okay.  There were two girls playing guitar and they were both awesome.  I couldn't get a clear picture because there was dirt everywhere from people moshing.
So yeah, it was tons of fun.  I highly recommend going if the tour comes near you.

Pre Warped Tour

Hey guys, I've been trying to post my answers video, but it's been taking so long to upload!  Warped tour is tomorrow, and I'm super excited.  I just checked, and I can bring my camera, so I'll have tons of fun stuff to share when I get back.  I mostly want to see The Rocket Summer (yesssssss), NeverShoutNever, Sum 41, The Summer Set, and We The Kings.  There's quite a lot of bands I've never heard of, so it'll be exciting to hear some new stuff too.  I'll give you all a sample of what each band sounds like.
The Rocket Summer:

Sum 41:
The Summer Set:
We The Kings:
Hope you like!

The Maine

The Maine has been one of my favorite bands for quite some time ever since I met the singer at Warped Tour last year, and they just came out with a new album yesterday.  It's called Black & White, and there's not a single song on it that I dislike.  This one is one of my favorites, it's just pain cute!
More good ones are "Right Girl" or "Inside of You."

Regina Spektor...

...where have you been all my life?
I keep typing and deleting what to say about these songs, because words aren't really good enough.  And I couldn't pick just one, they're all so great.

Sky Sailing

I'm sure you all have heard of Owl City by now, right?  Well, this is Adam Young's project before he ever started Owl City, called Sky Sailing.  He just released these songs, and you can preorder the whole album on itunes.  It's very similar to Owl City, just much sweeter and more dream-like.  Personally I think it's beautiful!

To The Sea

Nothing screams summertime more than Jack Johnson's music.  Seriously, buy this album, play it in your car when you're driving around the beach.  It's wonderful.

Marketing

I actually stole these photos from my friend Makay's blog, but I loved them so much I wanted to put them on here, too.  These are from the last day of school!  She's the girl in the front, and the one in the dark blue shirt is my other friend Bailey.  We never got much of anything accomplished in marketing class!
I love how you can see the quiz were supposed to be taking on her computer.  heheh.

Anyways, I heard this band in the car with Bailey the other day, and I really like them, so I just thought I would share.

Last Day of School EVER!

Today was my very last day of public school.  Ever.  I have to go back on Friday to take an exam, but that's IT. I don't think it has really hit me yet.  Technically I still have college, but that's a private school, so I can still say today was the last day of public school ever.  I thought it would be fun to gather some of my "first day of school" pictures and see how I've changed.

This was the first day of 2nd grade I think.  Kyle and I both have on Pokemon shirts.  I wish I still had that shirt.  My other brother trying to look all cool is Jeff.  Kyle was going to 4th grade, and Jeff was going to 10th.
This was the first day of 5th grade.  I loved this outfit so much, but I had just gotten a crappy haircut.  She cut my layers all wrong.  I just recently got rid of that denim skirt.
This is my first day of high school, so 9th grade.  I was legitimately excited to start high school.  This tank top was my first "designer" anything, from Nordstrom.  I still have it, too.  I had a great hair day that day.  Also, LOL at my bookbag being sagged because it was "cool."
First day of Sophomore year.  Ugh, I was trying to look "hot" with my tan and Rainbow flip-flops.  I swear my waist isn't that small anymore.  And I KNOW those pants are too small now.
Stupid blown-out face myspace pic.  Ew.
First day of this year.  My trusty F21 bleached jeans, Free People hoodie, and my fortune cookie necklace.  I remember thinking I didn't want to look like I was trying too hard.
And this was me today, on my last day of high school!  Outside pictures always look better.  I was super excited!
By the way, I'm wearing a Free People dress, H&M leggings, FRYE boots, and a Lucky Brand purse.  This is my absolute favorite outfit I own!  It's funny to look from the first picture to the last one.  I've really changed!  Out of all of them, I feel like my 5th grade outfit (and my current one of course) are the most "me."

Oh, and here's a good song to reminisce to.

DIY Journal

We've pretty much been doing nothing in art class, so I decided I would make a book for my dad for father's day.  They're actually pretty easy to make once you get the hang of it.  I'm really happy with how mine turned out.
You quite literally just sew the pages together.  Look up "coptic binding" if you're interested in making one!

I just wanted to show you the detail on my shirt I'm wearing today (from Anthropologie).  I love the colors, and of course I love lace!  It also has some on the bottom which you can see some in the above pictures.

Despite all the lovely comments on my last post, I decided to keep the boots.  They had more of those dresses, so maybe I can afford to rebuy it and keep it later.  These boots were the only ones left.  It's also easier to justify spending so much on boots rather than a dress.  They were both rather expensive!

99% of the time, I like acoustic versions of songs better than the original.  Here is a prime example:

By the way, anyone have any revolutionary tips for acne?  Mine is looking pretty terrible lately.

Sorry for being so random today!

Foundations

Just discovered this song, and I totally love it. I haven't even looked up any of her other music yet. I was just so excited that I had to share it with you. I've heard the name Kate Nash for awhile, but just got around to actually looking it up.
By the way, I WILL have her haircut soon, or possibly something similar!

Communication

Sorry I've been posting so little of my own content lately. I like my outfits when I put them on in the morning, but by the afternoon I don't think they're worth taking photos of anymore. These photos, however, are spectacular. I just came across the photographer Antonella Arismendi. These are just soo pretty!
This is one of my favorite songs right now, and it kind of fits the mood of these photos.

UO May Catalog

I'm totally lovinggggg Urban Outfitters' May catalog. There's just so much floral and lace and feminine color. It's truly inspiring within itself. I don't even like maxi dresses all that much but I really love the second photo. Here are some of my favorite pages:
For some reason, I really love to paint to Linkin Park. I know, it's weird, but for some reason it keeps me more focused than anything else. I've been working on my still life for art class while listening to it. I used to hate their album Minutes to Midnight because of how soft it was in comparison to their old music, but it's really growing on me lately. There are so many good songs. It's like a whole different band from their old music though.
